Van Briggle Pottery
Early Marks - Ephemera - Novelty items
This page explores some early examples of Van Briggle Pottery going back to the companies beginnings in 1901. As you can see the forms and glazes created in the early years are diverse in color, shape and size. Many of the early designs were originally created by both Artus and Anne Van Briggle. Some of these early designs remain in production today.
Multiple glaze colors were often applied on single pieces which once fired created some spectacular glaze effects and textures. Pieces made prior to 1920 tend to have more interesting glazes and detail in the mold making them more valuable and desirable to collectors.
